Since the early 1900s, the name Redfield has been synonymous with quality optics.  Founded by John Hill Redfield in 1909, the Redfield Gun Sight Company started out with a limited range of well-made products designed for rugged use among hunters and shooters.  Their product range eventually swelled to include other items, such as spotting scopes and binoculars, while still maintaining that same sense of heavy-duty quality.  Over time, Redfield grew to become one of the most respected optics manufacturers.

The company operated independently for more than 50 years after John Hill Redfield’s death in 1944, but would shut down its Denver, CO plant in 1998.  The company changed hands several times in the decade that followed, before being acquired by well-known optics company Leupold & Stevens in 2008.  Leupold & Stevens is based in Oregon, the same state that was home to John Hill Redfield himself.  While Redfield became a less popular brand during the company’s decade-long upheaval, they are now cementing themselves once again as a top choice among optics enthusiasts.

Redfield currently offer a range of products including binoculars, rangefinders, Leupold mounts, and scopes.  One of Redfield’s most popular offerings is the Revolution line of riflescopes.  These scopes cost between $130 and $220, and are designed to handle a range of different shooting conditions.  For example, the Redfield Revolution 3-9x50mm riflescope features a extra-large objective aperture to provide illumination in poor light conditions like dawn and dusk.  Each model of Revolution riflescopes weighs in at under a pound, and comes with features such as Redfield’s trademark Illuminator lens system for clear shots and optimum lighting.

Redfield Revolution riflescopes feature two different reticle types.  The first is the Accu-Range reticle, the new and improved version of Redfield’s original reticle of the same name.  The original Accu-Range was one of the first reticles to compensate for bullet drop, and helped to influence the reticle styles that are popular today.  The new version offers a bold center, for faster shots at close distances.  The other reticle featured on Redfield Revolution riflescopes is the 4-Plex, offering heavy posts that help guide the eye to the reticle’s thin crosshairs for precision shooting.

Another of Redfield’s most popular models in production is their Rampage spotting scope.  This scope features 20-60x magnification, and a 60mm objective aperture.  The polycarbonite body makes this scope very light, weighing in at just over 2 pounds (37.2 ounces).  This scope is treated to be shockproof, waterproof and fog-proof, helping it to stand up to even the harshest of hunting conditions.

The Rampage spotting scope comes as part of a kit including covers, a tripod, and cases for viewing and storage.  The Redfield Rampage is considered an ideal entry-level spotting scope, thanks to its basic features and competitively low price.  While some other spotting scopes can cost up to $1000 or more, the Redfield Rampage scope retails for less than $250.

In addition to offering quality scopes at an affordable price, Redfield also feature comprehensive warranties.  Many products are offered with a lifetime warranty for their original user, while some scopes feature a full lifetime warranty.
